Alveolar Bone Regeneration Using Nd:YAG Laser
نویسنده
چکیده
The loss of alveolar bone, which is very often a consequence of long-lasting inflammation of dental tissue, usually results in loose teeth and eventually the loss of the affected teeth. Removing the causes of periodontal disease with periodontal treatment can stop further alveolar bone decay, however, the problem remains unsolved of how to fix an affected tooth that has more than half of its root loose in alveolar tissue. In this paper, the successful use of an Nd:YAG laser is reported for stimulating the growth of osteoblasts and inducing bone regeneration. Stabilization and preservation of the tooth and its functions were achieved without any surgical or other invasive medical methods. A review of laser periodontal studies shows that there exists a relatively broad range of Nd:YAG and Er:YAG laser devices, laser parameters and treatment protocols with which there is at least some degree of bone regeneration achieved whenever FDA-cleared periodontal indications are treated with Nd:YAG and/or Er:YAG lasers.

High power-pulsed Nd:YAG laser as a new stimulus to induce BMP-2 expression in MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE High-power laser has recently become a physical stimulus for bone regeneration. Little is known about how high-power laser irradiation affects osteoblast differentiation. This study investigated osteoblast responses to high-power laser and combined irradiation with BMP-2 treatment. STUDY DESIGN/MATERIALS AND METHODS MC3T3-E1 pre-osteoblasts were exposed to laser irrad...
متن کاملGuided bone regeneration: A literature review
Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is a reconstructive procedure of alveolar ridge using membranes. This procedure is indicated when there is no sufficient bone for implantation, or in the case of optimal implant installation for esthetic or functional needs. GBR can be performed before implant placement, when there is not enough bone for initial stability of implants and less predictable outcomes ...

Background: Tissue engineering using Stem cell from Human Exfoliated Deciduous Teeth (SHED) and a natural biomaterials biomaterial scaffold has become a promising therapy for the alveolar bone defect. The aim of this study was to analyze the Osteoprotegerin (OPG) and Receptor Activator of NF-Κb ligand (RANKL) expression after the application of Hydroxyapatite scaffold and SHED.Methods: A labora...
متن کاملPeriodontal Bone Regeneration and the Er,Cr:YSGG Laser: A Case Report
BACKGROUND Traditional methods of regenerating bone in periodontal bone defects have been partially successful and have involved numerous protocols and materials. More recently, it has been proposed that Er,Cr:YSGG laser energy may also be beneficial in the treatment of periodontal pockets, particularly in the regeneration of bone lost due to periodontal disease. CASE DESCRIPTION The purpose ...
متن کاملExperimental Study of a Flash-lamp Pumped Passively Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser Using Cr4+:YAG Saturable Absorber
This paper deals with the experimental results of a xenon flash-lamp pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG laser using Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. The need of a laser cavity to be integrated into a time-of-flight laser range finder is of great interest as an experimental investigation of several laser resonators. Two types of laser resonator, with different lengths, have been studied: the flat-fl...
